Falaise, Castle Gould and the Hemstead House at Sands Point Preserve
Operated by the Nassau County Department of parks, recreation and Museums, the Sands point site features three castle-like mansions. Hempstead House, originally built by Howard Gould, was later the home of Daniel and florence Guggenheim beginning in 1917. Castle Gould, built in 1902, was once the carriage house of Howard Gould’s estate. Falaise was built for Harry f. Guggenheim and his wife Caroline Morton in 1923.
Hours: The Sands Point Preserve is open daily 9am-7:30pm. Falaise and the Hempstead House is Open from June 6th through October 25th, Thursday through Sunday. Tours leave at 12:00pm, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm.
Fees: The admissions for the preserve is $5 per car, or $2 per walk in, except on Wednesdays when admissions is free. The admission for Falaise and Hempstead House is $5.
